June 24-26, 2018

The PA Alliance for Geographic Education in conjunction with the National Geographic Education Foundation will be conducting a summer 2018 Geo-Inquiry Institute for middle school PA teachers. The institute will take place at a venue in western PA, where teachers will learn about getting students to explore their world with a geographic lens by asking questions, collecting data, visualizing solutions, creating answers and acting on their results. Teachers will receive free materials, hands-on training on how to incorporate ArcGIS Online in their current classroom instruction, and a $350 stipend.  Requirements: Teams of 2 middle school teachers from the same school are eligible to apply. One of the teachers should teach social studies. Teachers must commit to attending a 3 day institute in western PA June 24-26, 2018; and complete pre/post institute requirements in order to implement a Geo-Inquiry in your classrooms in the 2018-2019 academic year.  This institute is limited to 10 teams of two.
